Missing Boater Found In Middle River: Police

Officials say the body found in Middle River Wednesday was identified as a boater missing since Monday.

MIDDLE RIVER, MD - The body of a missing boater was found Wednesday morning in Middle River, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

John G. Martin, 58, was reported missing on Labor Day after he did not return home to the 2400 block of Rochelle Drive in Fallston, police reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Natural Resources Police and Baltimore County first responders searched for Martin near the Baltimore Yacht Club on Tuesday.

He was believed to have been in the area of his boat in the 800 block of Baltimore Yacht Club Road, police said.

After that search did not yield any results, authorities said they were called to the 600 block of Rockaway Beach Avenue for a report of a body at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The person, later identified as Martin, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The circumstances leading to the death of Martin are under investigation.

MIDDLE RIVER, MD - The Maryland Natural Resources Police recovered a body near Middle River Wednesday morning.

The body was recovered after 7:30 a.m., natural resources police reported.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was requested.

Baltimore County fire officials discovered the body in the 600 block of Rockaway Avenue in Essex the day after divers were scouring the waters for an individual who was missing, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported it was not immediately determined if the body recovered was the missing person.
