Local residents will gather on Saturday, April 14, to take part in an unprecedented week-long nationwide progressive mobilization called 99% Spring to take back the country for the 99%. Local training is to take place in Greenbelt from 1 to 4:15 p.m. in the , Room 202.
At the meeting, the activists will be trained in non-violent, direct action and will be connected with others in their community to take back Greenbelt for the 99%. The event in Greenbelt is part of a nationwide week-long mobilization that will train more than 100,000 activists.
The 99% Spring event will build off major progressive actions last year including the protests in Wisconsin for worker rights, the actions outside the White House to stop the Keystone Pipeline, Occupy Wall Street and the Move Your Money campaign.
"On Saturday, April 14, we will join with more than 100,000 others nationwide to stand-up for the 99%," said Lore Rosenthal of Greenbelt, an event organizer. "It is only through a massive undertaking like this we can break the 1% domination on virtually every aspect of our society – from business to government. We will train the 99% to take the country back for the 100%."
