Greenbelt police are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday.
According to police, around 12:44 a.m. the carjacking victim saw two suspects attempting to steal his dark green 2002 Ford Crown Victoria with Maryland tags in the 5900 block of Cherrywood Lane. When the victim confronted the suspects, police said, they scuffled and a suspect brandished a handgun.
Police said the suspects fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.
According to the police report attached to this post, a strong armed robbery was also reported in the 6100 block of Breezewood Court.
The victim was approached by two suspects and they demanded the victim's wallet, police reported.
The suspects are described as black males—one is described as six-feet tall, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan Timberland boots and the second is described as 5-foot-6, short, wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.
Several other crimes were reported such as a burglary on Crescent Road, vandalism on Breezewood Court and attempted burglaries on Lakeside Drive. See report attached for details.
