HdG Boat Fire Caused $100K in Damage: Fire Marshal
A sailboat went up in flames Thursday morning in Havre de Grace, according to the fire marshal.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – A sailboat fire that erupted off the shores of Havre de Grace Thursday morning is under investigation.
A passerby saw the boat ablaze at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Thursday and notified authorities, who responded to the 600 block of Concord Street, where the vessel was docked, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Approximately 15 firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes, the fire marshal reported.

The 41-foot Dehler sailing yacht was unoccupied and had been docked for the winter, officials said; the boat's owner was in Chadds Ford, Pa., where he lives.
The cause and origin of the fire have not yet been determined, the fire marshal reported Thursday, saying the following in a statement: "While the incident remains under investigation, there is no evidence the fire was the result of criminal activity."

The fire marshal said the blaze caused $100,000 in damage.
