Tractor Trailer Crash Clears From Tydings Bridge
The Tydings Bridge has reopened to traffic after a tractor trailer flipped on Interstate 95.
A tractor trailer overturned on the Tydings Bridge Thursday afternoon, leading to detours for more than two hours as crews worked to remove it amid high winds. As of 3:30 p.m., all lanes of Interstate 95 on the bridge had reopened.
Initially, authorities reported that a tractor trailer had flipped on the southbound side of the bridge at 12:35 p.m. There were no injuries as a result of the incident, Maryland State Police said.
Northbound I-95 drivers were directed onto MD 155, while those on I-95 south were detoured at MD 222.

Just before 1:30 p.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority shared a picture of the tractor-trailer at the scene and said that crews were working to move it into an upright position.
According to one broadcaster, they were not able to get the vehicle up because of the wind. Jim Russ of WBAL Radio reported after 2:30 p.m. that crews had still not righted the tractor trailer and instead pulled it on its side to clear the crash from the bridge.

After 3 p.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority said that crews had removed the vehicle from the bridge and were standing it up in the lanes after the bridge span. Officials said sanding crews were also treating the bridge to prepare it for reopening.
US 40 was experiencing heavy traffic delays before 3 p.m. due to drivers taking alternate routes as a result of the Tydings Bridge incident, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company.
By 3:30 p.m., the crash had cleared on both northbound and southbound I-95, and the bridge had reopened.
At the time of the crash, the Tydings Bridge and Hatem Bridge were under full wind restrictions, meaning tractor trailers under 64,000 pounds and house trailers may not cross. Wind gusts of 50 mph trigger full wind restrictions.
As of 2:40 p.m., the Hatem, Tydings and Bay bridges were under limited wind restrictions. Winds of 40 to 49 mph trigger wind restrictions, under which law enforcement may prohibit vehicles such as house trailers or empty box trailers from crossing the bridge.
Weather officials have warned of slick roads following snowfall and bitterly cold temperatures.
In addition, a wind advisory is in effect for Harford County until 7 p.m. calling for winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Power outages and falling tree limbs are possible, and driving may be difficult. In Cecil County, a separate winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. due to winds of 40 mph and blowing snow.
