Worker Killed Near Rocks State Park, Officials Say

A wall fell on worker at a construction site, Harford County emergency personnel reported.

Three people were taken to the hospital, one of whom died, in a construction-related incident Friday afternoon near Rocks State Park, officials said.

At 1:30 p.m., two workers were at the base of a ravine on MD Route 24 at Saint Clair Bridge Road when a jersey wall fell on one and debris injured another, according to Jennifer Chenworth-Price, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

They had been working on stabilizing Route 24/Rocks Road, The Dagger reported.

Three people were taken to the hospital from the scene—one in grave condition, another with injuries not believed to be life-threatening and a third who experienced a medical emergency, according to Price.

One person died, according to the Maryland Natural Resources Police. He was pronounced dead at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, according to The Aegis.

The deceased worked for Corman Construction of Annapolis Junction, and his father was also at the construction site at the time of the incident, The Dagger reported. His identity was not immediately available.

Price said Jarrettsville and Whiteford volunteer fire companies handled the call and the Harford County Sheriff’s Office was investigating.

In addition, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was reviewing the incident, according to the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
