County Website Pairs Teens with Summer Jobs, Training

Prince George's County youths between the ages of 15 and 19 may register online for free job readiness training and job opportunities.

County Website Pairs Teens with Summer Jobs, Training

Prince George’s County is launching its Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program to help pair teens with jobs and mentors.

“We are committed to ensuring that our youth are engaged in meaningful and enriching activities during the summer months,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. “Providing job opportunities for youth means more than just giving them something to do as a way to earn extra cash. The opportunities being provided in this enhanced summer jobs program also will educate and inspire them to think about their future careers, introduce them to potential mentors, and will create memories and provide lessons that will last a lifetime.”

County youth, between the ages of 15 and 19, may register online for free job readiness training, which will be provided by the Prince George's Community College in partnership with the Prince George's County Public Schools.

Registration will be open until April 4. To register online, visit  www.PrinceGeorgesCountymd.gov, click on the Youth@Work slider and go directly to the Job Readiness Training Section.

The Greater Prince George’s County Business Roundtable, Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and Prince George’s County Government will have summer employment opportunities available. Application acceptance periods vary for each entity.

Prince George’s County Government’s application acceptance (for county government jobs only) period began Feb. 24 and will end on Friday, March 21.

For more information on Youth@Work/SYEP 2014, including summer employment opportunities offered by our business partners, visit  www.PrinceGeorgesCountyMd.gov and click on the Youth@Work slider. Links to sites are (or soon will be) available on the County website to apply for employment opportunities with the other entities listed above.

Even after the application period for the county government closes on March 21, the website will remain open to receive applications for the other entities, which have varying application periods.
