Anne Arundel Schools Make Decision on Tuesday Opening
As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, Anne Arundel County students and teachers should prepare for an on-time opening on Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to a post on the school system's Facebook page.

Buses will operate on a normal schedule, but the school system advised that parents of bus riders and walkers may want to make alternate plans for Tuesday given the forecast of below-freezing wind chills.

AACPS road conditions will be monitored overnight, and any changes to the school schedule would be announced Tuesday morning.

An arctic blast is set to hit Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas Monday night and into Tuesday. Temperatures will fall into single digits overnight, with wind chills as low as 12 below zero. Tuesday's high is expected to climb into the teens, with wind chills as low as 12 below zero.

The National Weather Service has issued  a wind chill advisory for Anne Arundel County beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday. A wind chill advisory is issued when low temperatures and high winds combine to create dangerous low wind chills. Low wind chills could lead to frostbite or hypothermia.
