MARYLAND CITY, MD — Anne Arundel County authorities have released the name of a Maryland City woman who died in a house fire. Mary Lanthrip, 84, died Tuesday night at Laurel Regional Hospital from injuries she suffered in the blaze, fire department officials said.
Just before 8:30 p.m., Anne Arundel County firefighters were called to a house fire in the 3300 block of Sudlersville South. A neighbor called 9-1-1 to report that Lanthrip's kitchen appeared to be on fire and they believed she was still inside the house. The first firefighters to arrive saw smoke coming from the one-story, rancher style house.
Firefighters who entered the burning house found and removed Lanthrip, who was unconscious in a bedroom in her home. She was treated by paramedics and then taken to Laurel Regional Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. She later died at the hospital.
