27 Fish Worth $5K Stolen From Backyard Pond

An Owings Mills resident fell victim to a fish-napper last week when an assortment of gilled pets worth thousands were taken.

The thief stole $5,000 worth in fish from a backyard pond in Owings Mills, police said.

A total of 27 fish of various types were taken from the pond, located in the backyard of a home on the 3300 block of Carroll Avenue in Owings Mills, between 12 p.m. Jan. 14 and 2 p.m. Jan. 20, according to a Baltimore County Police report.

The fish types included koi, butterfly koi, channel catfish, albino koi, shubunkin and others, according to Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct.
