2 Hospitalized After Roof Collapses in Owings Mills: Fire Official

Two people had to be rescued after Owings Mills building collapsed Friday afternoon, Baltimore County emergency personnel reported.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Two people were rescued from a building that caved in on itself in Owings Mills Friday afternoon, according to Baltimore County Fire Lieutenant Paul Massarelli.

The call came in before 4 p.m. that the roof had collapsed in the 100 block of Oak Mere Road, he said.

The house had been undergoing renovations, and neighbors told WBAL they had reported to Baltimore County several times that the structure looked unsafe.

By 4:35 p.m., first responders had rescued one person and were working on getting the second person out.

Both individuals were taken to the hospital for evaluation, he said before 5 p.m.

According to WJZ, the workers were flown by medevac to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they were being treated for multiple serious injuries.
