Owings Mills Native Opens Eye Care Practice Near Stevenson

A longtime Owings Mills resident decided to make a major investment in his community earlier this year.

Eye doctor Brian Granek, a member of Owings Mills High School’s class of 1992, opened his own practice, Visionary Eye Care in Owings Mills this summer.

On Thursday, the Reisterstown-Owings Mills-Glyndon Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at the Granek’s Boulevard College Center office. He was joined by ROMG Chamber Executive Director Brian Ditto and Sen. Bobby Zirkin, whose law office is in the same building.

“I decided it was time to venture out on my own,” said Granek, who has been practicing for 11 years.

Granek said his practice is technologically driven, almost paperless, treats patients of all ages, has a wide variety of frames and specializes in complex contact lens fits.

Granek is the eye doctor for Stevenson University Athletics, which is located conveniently next door on Owings Mills Boulevard, and is also on staff at Mercy Hospital.

While he joined the chamber partly to give back to the community, he also started a charity within the practice called Eye Give Back.

“I feel very strongly about giving back and being available to the community,” Granek said.

Through Eye Give Back, a portion of every exam goes to one of three charities of the patient’s choice – Sinai Hospital’s Jennifer Gandel Kachura Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Health Care for the Homeless and Irvine Nature Center.

Visionary Eye Care is located at 10995 Owings Mills Boulevard, Suite 204. They can be reached at 410-363-0060 and www.visionaryicare.com.
