A 30-year-old Owings Mills woman has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud after being accused of stealing patient information from a doctor's office and using it to open store credit accounts, according to Fox45 in Baltimore.
Michelle Cole of Owings Mills worked at two medical practices located in Laurel, Columbia and Glen Burnie, according to the
US State's Attorney's Office in Baltimore. Her sister, Chanell Cole, 27, of Baltimore, worked at a doctor’s office in Baltimore.
Prosecutors say that between 2010 and 2013, the Cole sisters used the information of nearly 50 patients and took over credit accounts at department stores and bought items for their personal use.
Also indicted in the alleged conspiracy are 36-year-old Denise Wearing and 39-year-old Yolana Welch, both of Philadelphia. Welch also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, according to Fox45.
The women face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine for the conspiracy and bank fraud, according to the US State's Attorney's Office.
Cole and Welch are scheduled to be sentenced in April, according to Fox45.
