2 Suspected in Stabbing at Woodlawn High School: Police

A sophomore who was stabbed and injured outside Woodlawn High School was allegedly targeted, Baltimore County police said.

WOODLAWN, MD — A student was hospitalized after a stabbing at Woodlawn High School Thursday morning. One person was in custody and a second suspect — the alleged assailant — was at large, police said.

The stabbing was reported at 11:15 a.m. at the high school in the 1800 block of Woodlawn Drive, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Officials said a 16-year-old was stabbed in the upper body near the tennis courts behind Woodlawn High School. The victim, who was a sophomore, was taken in stable condition to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of a minor stab wound, according to police.

Authorities said that two suspects were allegedly involved. One was arrested and a second fled the scene, police reported. The outstanding suspect is accused of targeting and assaulting the student, according to officials.

In the wake of the incident, Woodlawn High School was temporarily placed on lockdown as a precaution. By 11:55 a.m., officials said the lockdown had been lifted.
