Windsor Mill Man Indicted for Abuse of Disabled Adult

A Windsor Mill man was indicted and charged with assaulting and abusing a vulnerable adult in an October incident in which the disabled adult was assaulted and strangled.

Solomon Oscar Ankrah, also known as Ali Aminu, 31, is charged with one felony and one misdemeanor count of abuse of a vulnerable adult and one felony and one misdemeanor count of assault, Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler announced in a press release Thursday.

Ankrah, who was employed as a caretaker of a 28-year-old disabled man at a Greenspring Valley Road residential facility operated by Living Sans Frontieres, allegedly assaulted the resident after an argument over cleaning his room. The 28-year-old suffered injuries to his neck and face that included lacerations, bruising, hemorrhaging and swelling to his left eye. The resident was also strangled to the point that he briefly lost consciousness, the press release said.

An arraignment date is pending. The felony abuse charge can be punished by up to 10 years incarceration, and the felony assault charge can be punished by up to 25 years, according to the release.
