UPDATE (Dec. 18, 9:40 a.m.)—About 9,500 customers in Perry Hall, Kingsville and Fallston lost power around 9:50 p.m. Monday. All service, however, was restored by midnight, according to Rachael Lighty, a BGE spokesperson.

Lights flickering and sounds throughout the night, for many customers, were a positive sign, Lighty said, as it showed that as power was lost from one source, it was being supplemented from another source.

The outages were caused by a broken cross arm, which held multiple main power lines. It is unknown if the break was related to a traffic accident, weather or technical problems, she said.

UPDATE (Dec. 17, 10:35 p.m.)—Power was restored to much of the Perry Hall and Kingsville area. BGE officials were not immediately available to comment on the cause of outages.

UPDATE (Dec. 17, 10:15 p.m.)—Amid drizzling rain and fog, Perry Hall and Kingsville residents reported widespread power outages at around 9:50 p.m. Monday.

On  Perry Hall Patch's Facebook page, residents reported outages on Schroeder Avenue, Cowenton Avenue, Forge Road, Philadelphia Road, a portion of Belair Road and in the Perry Hall Farms, Forge Landing and Glenside neighborhoods—an area covering several miles of residential streets.

Customers in Weis Markets along Honeygo Boulevard said they were forced to leave behind carts of food when they were unable to check out.

Some wrote that they heard power surges and saw flickering lights before the outage.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company officials were not immediately available to comment.

The BGE power outage map did not show any outages in the Perry Hall area as of 10:15 p.m.
