Chlorine Spill At Home Depot, High Water Delays: Traffic In MD, DC

On The Road

As of 7:24 a.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service units were on the scene of a small chlorine spill at the Home Depot located at 7111 Westlake Terrace. The building was evacuated and EMS crews are evaluating employees for possible exposure. The spill has been isolated and Hazmat crews have started cleanup work. There is no danger to the public, according to MCFRS. [Bethesda, MD]

As of 7:21 a.m., debris was reported in the roadway on US-50 West at Kent Narrows Road, according to MDOT. [Kent Narrows, MD]

As of 7:13 a.m., the right lane and shoulder of northbound MD 185 from Chevy Chase Lake Drive to Manor Road are closed, according to MDOT. [Silver Spring, MD]

As of 7:03 a.m., right-hand shoulder of westbound I-70 at US-29 is closed due to a collision, according to MDOT. [Ellicot City, MD]

As of 7:02 a.m., the left lane is blocked on the I-270 southbound ramp to I-495/Capital Beltway Inner Loop, according to WTOP Traffic. [Chevy Chase, MD]

As of 7 a.m., both traffic lanes of MD-151 North between Sparrows Point Boulevard and Wharf Road are closed, according to MDOT. [Sparrows Point, MD]

As of 7 a.m., both shoulders of I-395 South from Conway Street to the Fort McHenry Tunnel are closed, according to MDOT. [Baltimore, MD]

As of 6:53 a.m., the right lane is blocked on southbound 14th Street, Southwest after Independence Avenue, Southwest due to a crash, according to WTOP Traffic. [Washington, DC]

As of 6:47 a.m., MD 717 at MD-4 is closed in both directions due to high water, according to MDOT. [Upper Marlboro, MD]

As of 6:23 a.m, a disabled truck was reported at I-495/Capital Beltway Inner Loop ramp to northbound I-95, causing crowding in the right lane, according to WTOP Traffic. [Adelphi, MD]

As of 6 a.m., a crash was reported blocking Silver Hill Road in both directions and Old Silver Hill Road and MD-414/St Barnabas Road, according to WTOP Traffic. [Washington, DC]

On Metro

As of 7:38 a.m., Metrobuses on Route P12 are experiencing delays in both directions due to police activity on Wheeler Road at Leland Drive, according to Metro. [Washington, DC]

Local and Express shuttle bus service available at Stadium-Armory due to the summer platform improvement project, according to Metro. Several stations in Maryland on the Orange Line are closed due to the project: Minnesota Avenue, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, and New Carrollton. [Washington, DC]
