MARYLAND — Good morning, Patch readers in Maryland! Before you head out the door, check out Patch's traffic report — which covers suburban Maryland and Washington, D.C.

On The Road

As of 7:29 a.m., right shoulder and right traffic lane of southbound I-95 at the exit for MD-175/Waterloo Road are closed due to a collision, according to MDOT. [Elkridge, MD]

As of 7:12 a.m., the left shoulder of northbound I-95 from Weigh Station Access Road to Cherry Hill Road is closed, according to MDOT. [Cherry Hill Park, MD]

As of 7:12 a.m., the left turn lane and shoulder of northbound MD-190 at Ridgefield Road is closed, according to MDOT. [Somerset, MD]

As of 7:12 a.m., both traffic lanes and shoulder of southbound MD-70 between Calvert Street and College Avenue are closed, according to MDOT. [Annapolis, MD]

As of 7:06 a.m., westbound traffic lane and shoulder of MD-291 at River Park Road is closed due to a utility problem, according to MDOT. [Millington, MD]

As of 6:50 a.m., a utility problem was reported in both directions at MD-155, but all lanes are open, according to MDOT. [Havre De Grace, MD]

As of 6:46 a.m., southbound right shoulder of I-97 at the exit for southbound MD-162/Cromwell Park Drive is closed due to a disabled vehicle in the roadway, according to MDOT. [Glen Burnie, MD]

On Metro

As of 7:36 a.m., Metrobus Routes A12 and F14 are bypassing Landover and experiencing delays in both directions due to police activity, according to Metro. [Landover, MD]

As of 7:36 a.m., Metrobus Routes J12 and K12 are experiencing delays in both directions due to construction on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to Metro. [Washington, DC]

As of 7:19 a.m., train service restored on the Yellow/Green line between Mount Vernon Square and L'Enfant Plaza due to earlier track inspection outside the Gallery Place Station, according to Metro. Expect residual delays. Metrobus Routes 70 and 74 operate between L'Enfant Plaza and Mount Vernon Square. [Washington, DC]

Local and Express shuttle bus service available at Stadium-Armory due to the summer platform improvement project, according to Metro. Several stations in Maryland on the Orange Line are closed due to the project: Minnesota Avenue, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, and New Carrollton. [Washington, DC]

DC Weather

Showers and numerous thunderstorms are expected to pass through the region late in the afternoon and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. Average rainfall will be around 1 to 1.5 inches across the region, but may be as much as 2 to 4 inches in some areas.

Heavy rain in short periods of time may cause some creeks and streams to overflow and lead to flash flooding in urban areas, according to NWS.

An areal flood watch will go into effect at 2 p.m. and continue into the evening hours on Wednesday, for much of the national capital region, according to the NWS. The watch covers parts of D.C., Virginia and Maryland, including Anne Arundel, Calvert, Howard, Montgomery, Charles, Prince George's and St. Mary's counties, as well as Baltimore.

As of 7:42, the temperature was 74 degrees, according to the AccuWeather forecast. Intermittent clouds fill the skies over Silver Spring, with a 90 percent chance of precipitation. The high temperature for Wednesday is expected to be 87 and the low 71.
