Welcome news for travelers hoping to make an early start to the Labor Day weekend will be that the eastbound lanes over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge were mostly clear and traffic was moving quickly, as of 7:40 a.m.
For commuters in Washington, D.C., the news was a little different. Police are investigating a shooting in the 1600 block of 18th Street, Southeast, which is causing delays in both directions between Q Street, South, Southeast, and Minnesota Avenue, Southeast.

As of 7:17 a.m., a crash was reported on the southbound ramp from MD-2/Ritchie Highway to westbound US-50, according to WTOP Traffic. [Annapolis, MD]
As of 7:09 a.m., shooting was reported in the 1600 block of 18th Street, Southeast, between Q Street, South, Southeast, and Minnesota Avenue, Southeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. A lookout was issued for a man wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, black pants with red at the bottom, black and white shoes. Don't take action. Call 911. [Washington, DC]
As of 7:04 a.m., a crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast at Malcolm X Avenue, Southeast is affecting traffic in both directions, according to WTOP Traffic. [Washington, DC]
As of 7 a.m., the southbound-left shoulder and one southbound-traffic lane of MD-355 Sough from Grosvenor Lane to Alta Vista Road are closed, according to MDOT. [Kensington, MD]
As of 6:56 a.m., the northbound-left shoulder of I-95 North is closed from Weigh Station Access Road to Cherry Hill Road, according to MDOT. [Adelphi, MD]
As of 6:55 a.m., one northbound-right shoulder and one right traffic lane on US-15 North at West Main Street are closed, according to MDOT. [Thurmont, MD]
As of 6:25 a.m., both southbound shoulders on I-395 from Conway Street to the Fort McHenry Tunnel are closed, according to MDOT. [Baltimore, MD]
As of 6:55 a.m., northbound shoulder and traffic lane of MD-223 North between Rosaryville Road and Sherwood Drive are closed, according to MDOT. [Rosaryville, MD]
As of 5:51 a.m., the southbound-left shoulder, one southbound-traffic lane, and one northbound-left shoulder on I-83 South at the exit for MD-439/Old York Road are closed due to a two-vehicle collision, according to MDOT. [Maryland Line, MD]
On Metro
Light RailLink is currently experiencing delays in north and southbound service, according to MTA. [Baltimore, MD]
Local and Express shuttle bus service available at Stadium-Armory due to the summer platform improvement project, according to Metro. Several stations in Maryland on the Orange Line are closed due to the project: Minnesota Avenue, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, and New Carrollton. [Washington, DC]
DC Weather
AS of 7:25 a.m., skies over the District were mostly sunny, with a temperature of 66 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Expect plenty of sunshine and a 2 percent chance of precipitation on Friday in the Rockville area, according to the AccuWeather forecast. Friday's high temperature will be 85 and the low 68.
