Shipley's Girl Scouts Host Annual Father/Daughter Dance

The 2011 theme was "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Girl Scouts and their dads, some dressed as pirates while others opted for a tropical theme, blended in nicely to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" them for the annual Father/Daughter dance last Friday at Shipley's Choice Elementary School. After posing for the photographer, the scouts and their escorts headed for the gymnasium where D.J. Bob Hoenscheid played hip dance music, surrounded by tropical island decorations and refreshments.

This is the third year Kim Schmidt and Jenny Hoenscheid, leaders for Girl Scout Brownie Troop # 4840, have organized the popular dance open to Girl Scouts from kindergarten through sixth grade.

With over 225 in attending, Schmidt and Hoenscheid were thrilled with the turnout. "The dance was amazing,  I loved all the music that D.J. Bob played," said Jenna King, a third grade Brownie.

Annabelle Cotton said "It was really fun because my dad turned me upside down when we danced.  The best part of the evening was  when I got to slow dance with my dad. This is something I will always remember."

The Shipley's Girls Scout Cluster  donated $100 to SHARE (Share Her Annual Real Expenses – the Annual Giving Campaign of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland that raises money to cover a portion of the actual expense associated with one year of Girl Scout programs) http://www.gscm.org/supportus/share.html
