Maryland Weather Forecast: First Day of Spring Arrives

SILVER SPRING, MD — Spring-like weather, for the most part, appropriately will greet the first day of spring, according to the area outpost of the National Weather Service.

It's expected to be a tad on the chilly side but not too bad, with highs in the mid-50s under mostly sunny skies.

After that, the rest of the work week is shaping to be an up-and-down affair, with warmer temperatures Tuesday and a chance of rain followed by a sunny Wednesday but highs in the mid-40s.

Meanwhile, the early line for Saturday is party sunny with highs flirting with 70.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Monday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Light northwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 46.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56.
