Silver Spring Crime: Burglaries at Golf Course, Info Security Office, Pizza Restaurant

The following information was supplied by the  Montgomery County Police Department in its  summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Sept. 30 and Oct. 8. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Assaults:

  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 1000 block of Quebec Street in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 4, at 11:40 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 2300 block of Red Eagle Court in Aspen Hill. The suspect is known to the victim. A 29-year-old man from Washington, DC, was arrested.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 2200 block of Georgian Way in Silver Spring on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 5:33 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim. A 16-year-old woman from Silver Spring was arrested.

Armed robberies:

  • An armed robbery occurred in the 8900 block of Manchester Road in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 4, at 10:26 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • An attempted robbery occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 4, at 1:45 a.m. The suspects—two men, ages 27 and 29, from Hyattsville—were arrested. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 1700 block of Wilcox Lane in Silver Spring on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 3:46 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim and obtained property.
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7:06 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. An 18-year-old man from Aspen Hill was arrested.

Robbery:

  • A robbery occurred in the 3200 block of Birchtree Lane in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 1 a.m. The suspects forcefully removed property from the victim, then fled.  

Commercial burglaries:

  • A commercial burglary/auto theft occurred at MKN Auto Body (8913 Brookville Rd., Silver Spring) between Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, and Sunday morning, Oct. 6. There was a forced entry, and property and a vehicle were taken. (Also listed in this post under "vehicle theft.")
  • A commercial burglary occurred between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, and 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Smith Information Security (8115 Fenton St., Silver Spring). There was an unknown entry, and property was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, and 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at an office at 8720 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred at a grocery store  at 11456 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring, between 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, and 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred at the construction site at 1002 Milestone Dr., Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred at Hampshire Greens Golf Course (616 Firestone Dr., Silver Spring) on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 8:52 p.m. There was a forced entry, and nothing was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred at the Papa John’s restaurant at 11915 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, on Friday, Oct. 4, at 2:28 a.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.  

Residential burglaries:

  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8800 block of Lanier Drive in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 4, at about 1:30 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.  
  • A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 2, between 7:10 a.m. and 5:05 p.m. in the 400 block of Southwest Drive in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Saturday, Oct. 5, between midnight and 7:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Cottrell Terrace in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of McCeney Avenue in Silver Spring. Property was taken from an unlocked garage. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 1, between noon and 5 p.m. in the 3700 block of Lamberton Square Road in Silver Spring. There was an attempted forced entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Oct. 4, between 12:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. in the 13700 block of Colgate Way in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred between 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, and 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 4:25 a.m. in the 3500 block of Aston Manor Court in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 300 block of Flannery Lane in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11:44 p.m.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 3800 block of Terrawood Court in Rockville on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 5 a.m. There was an unknown entry, and nothing was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 11600 block of Grandview Avenue in Silver Spring between Monday, Sept. 30, at 10:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7:15 a.m. There was no forced entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4200 block of Tulare Drive in Silver Spring between Friday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 2500 block of McMahon Road in Silver Spring between Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 

Vehicle theft:

  • A commercial burglary/auto theft occurred at MKN Auto (8913 Brookville Rd., Silver Spring) between Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, and Sunday morning, Oct. 6. There was a forced entry, and property and a vehicle were taken. (Also listed in this post under "commercial burglaries.")

Theft from vehicle:

  • A theft from a vehicle occurred at the A Quality Auto Body & Services (2325 Perkins Place, Silver Spring) on Monday, Sept. 30, between 4 a.m. and 10:15 p.m. A vehicle part was taken.
