A Silver Spring restaurant was damaged by fire this morning with another nearby business damaged by smoke, according to Pete Piringer, spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters were called about 5 a.m. to Peruvian Charcoal Chicken at 10118 Colesville Road. As crews battled the fire, two lanes of the street were closed, but all lanes have since reopened, Piringer tweeted.
Piringer said when firefighters arrived on scene there were flames showing through the restaurant’s roof.
The fire is out and no injuries were reported.
Some smoke damage was reported in the nearby Red Maple restaurant.
Damage to the Peruvian Charcoal Chicken is estimated at more than $275,000, Piringer said. The business is closed.
