Viet Pho and Grill, Rental Office Burgled: Silver Spring Crime

The following information was supplied by the  Montgomery County Police Department in its  summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Jan. 6 and 14. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction. 

Armed robberies:

  • An armed robbery occurred in the 700 block of Richmond Avenue in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 6, at 9:27 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 11:16 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 700 block of McNeill Road in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 13, at 8:58 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. Seven teenagers—all male, ranging in age from 16 to 19—were arrested. Five of the teens are from Silver Spring, one is from Hyattsville, and one is from Takoma Park.
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 8600 block of Garland Avenue in Silver Spring on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 12:03 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 600 block of Northampton Drive in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7:23 p.m. The suspect forcefully obtained property from the victim, then fled. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred near the intersection of Northampton Drive and Beacon Road in Silver Spring on Friday, Jan. 10, at 9:56 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and obtained property. 
  • An attempted armed robbery occurred in the 100 block of Colony Road in Silver Spring on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 3 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim with a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property.
  • An armed robbery occurred in the unit block of Sheffield Manor Court in Silver Spring on Friday, Jan. 10, between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred at Epping Road and Flack Street in Silver Spring on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 9:30 a.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 2500 block of University Boulevard in Silver Spring on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 5:59 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred at the BP station at 2201 University Blvd. West in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 13, at 8:47 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.

Theft:

  • A theft occurred in the 8600 block of 2nd Avenue in Silver Spring between Saturday, Jan. 11, and Monday, Jan. 13. Construction items were taken. 

Commercial burglaries:

  • A commercial burglary occurred at Viet Pho and Grill (1640 Elton Rd., Silver Spring) on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 2 a.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred at a rental office at 11523 February Circle, Silver Spring between Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 8 and 9. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 3900 block of Blackburn Lane in Silver Spring between Friday, Jan. 10, at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 11, at 9 a.m. Two maintenance sheds were broken into, and property was taken from one of them.
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 15400 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring between Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 9, at midnight. A shed was broken into, but nothing was taken. 

Residential burglaries:

  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8500 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring on Saturday, Jan. 11, between 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. No forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8200 block of Nolte Avenue in Silver Spring between 9 and 9:10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13. Unknown entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Croydon Court in Silver Spring on Thursday, Jan. 9, at an unknown time. Unknown entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring on Friday, Jan. 10, at 1:59 p.m. No forced entry; property taken. A 54-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring on Friday, Jan. 10, between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8800 block of Bradford Road in Silver Spring on Thursday, Jan. 9, between 7:40 a.m. and 10:15 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 300 block of Southampton Drive in Silver Spring on Thursday, Jan. 9, between 8:50 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 13, between 8:40 and 11 a.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of Mt. Pisgah Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 13, around 11 a.m. Forced entry; nothing taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 300 block of Hilmoor Drive in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Jan. 8, between 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. No forced entry; property taken. 
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11500 block of Stewart Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 6, between 8 a.m. and 12:57 p.m. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 11200 block of Oakleaf Drive in Silver Spring on Friday, Jan. 10, between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. No forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 11400 block of December Way in Silver Spring between Friday, Jan. 10, and Sunday, Jan. 12. Forced entry; unknown if anything was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 13, at 1:30 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1900 block of Treetop Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, Jan. 13, between 7:40 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 2900 block of Memory Lane in Silver Spring between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 2900 block of Memory Lane in Silver Spring between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Kings House Road in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 8:18 p.m. No forced entry; nothing taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 15600 block of Good Hope Road in Silver Spring between Dec. 13 and Jan. 1. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 13200 block of Lantern Hill Court in Silver Spring on Friday, Jan. 10, at 3:50 a.m. Unknown entry; nothing taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 18200 block of Paladin Drive in Olney on Friday, Jan. 10, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 

Vehicle thefts:

  • An attempted vehicle theft occurred in the 1600 block of Oakview Drive in Silver Spring between Thursday and Friday, Jan. 9 and 10. Forced entry. 

Thefts from vehicles:

  • Two thefts from vehicles occurred during the night between Sunday and Monday, Jan. 12 and 13, in the residential parking garage at 1315 East-West Highway in Silver Spring. Each vehicle was entered by force, and vehicle parts were taken. 
  • Two thefts from vehicles occurred during the night between Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 6 and 7, on Fleetwood Terrace and Mansfield Road in Silver Spring. Both vehicles were left unlocked, and keys, a first-aid kit and a Leatherman tool were taken.
