Many local senior citizens in Silver Spring are signing up for assistance with grocery shopping.

Volunteer: Help a Local Silver Spring Senior Grocery Shop

Take some time out of your day to assist a local senior citizen.

Who? The Senior Connection located at 3950 Ferrara Drive in Silver Spring.

What? Tasks include escorting a senior to the grocery, assisting with reading product labels, reaching stock, handling carts and putting away groceries, or shopping for a home-bound senior from their list and putting groceries away upon return.

When? Volunteers should be willing to make a year-long commitment to shop every week or two.

Why? Grocery shopping is an easy and convenient way to make a big impact on the quality of a senior’s life. You can shop for someone else at the same time you do your own, on your way home from work, or as a weekend family outing.

How? To volunteer call Marcia Custer at 301 962 0820 x 14 or visit the website: http://www.seniorconnectionmc.org/volunteers/become-a-volunteer
