A Frederick man was arrested in an armed robbery of the Advance Auto Parts store in Takoma Park, police said.
Steven Ray Williams, 42, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, 1st and 2nd degree assault, false imprisonment and theft over $1,000.
Two men, one brandishing a gun, robbed the Advance Auto Parts store on New Hampshire Avenue on Sept. 16, Takoma Park Police said.
Around 7:47 p.m., police responded to the store for a commercial armed robbery in progress. Two suspects entered the establishment and posed as customers. One of the suspects allegedly showed a handgun and ordered one of the victims to the manager’s office and restrained her with flexi-cuffs, police said.
Both suspects took money from the registers and then ordered the manager to open the safe. The manager was then put into flexi-cuffs, as well, police said.
The suspects fled out the back door on foot, according to police, and no one was hurt.
Police received tips implicating Williams and a search warrant was issued where items related to the crime were retrieved, police said.
Williams also allegedly robbed two other Advance Auto Parts stores in Montgomery County, police said.
Additional suspects have been identified who were involved in this armed robbery. Warrants have also been issued for their arrests and information on those suspects will be released after they are in custody, police said.
