TAKOMA PARK, MD — A DC man presumably on PCP was arrested by Takoma Park Police for forcing his way into a Takoma Park home, stealing two knives from the kitchen and fleeing, police announced Friday, Feb. 10.
At around 8 p.m. Jan. 13, police responded to the 6400 block of Eastern Avenue for the report of a residential burglary in process.
The suspect—later identified as Nathaniel Leonard Poole, 33—forced his way into the victims' home by telling them someone was chasing after him, police said. Poole took two knives from their kitchen and fled the house armed.

Two motorists then encountered Poole after he fled from the home, police said. One driver was driving through the intersection of Eastern Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue when he saw Poole lying down in the street.
The driver stopped to assist Poole when he noticed Poole was armed with a knife. The driver took the knife from Poole and threw it in the McDonald’s parking lot across the intersection, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they retrieved the knife at McDonalds and the second knife that was in the roadway.
Officers noticed an odor of Phencyclidine (PCP) emanating from Poole, and when they tried to have a conversation with him, he was unresponsive, police said.
An ambulance was called to treat Poole's injuries and he was brought to Washington Adventist Hospital, police said.
Poole has been charged with first degree burglary.
