We Are Takoma Series Features Booming Japanese Drumming

A D.C.-based Japanese drum trio will fill the Takoma Park Auditorium with booming sounds Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the We Are Takoma series.

Kizuna members Kristen Koyama, Paul Bodnar and Mark Rooney collectively bring more than 30 years of experience to the drumming style called taiko.

"As performers, they seek to pay tribute not only to the awesome synergy of sound and dynamic movement that distinguishes taiko as an artform, but also to the spirit of kizuna, the bonds of friendship, that is the foundation of the taiko community in North America," according to a city release about the event.

Suggested donation is $10.
