Planning Board Approves Site Plan for Future BB&T Bank

BB&T will consolidate three adjacent lots on University Boulevard into two lots.

Planning Board Approves Site Plan for Future BB&T Bank

Last week the Montgomery County Planning Board approved the preliminary plan and the site plan for the BB&T development along University Boulevard, across from the Giant.

The plans consolidate the three existing lots into two lots, which will help “preserve the residential character of the neighborhood,” according to senior planner Patrick Butler. A representative for BB&T agreed and told the board that the lot configuration opens the possibility of two different uses for the “next generation of development.”

See the planning department report for more details on the conditions attached to the approval.

A 4,080-square-foot bank, with a detached 4-lane drive-through canopy and 23 parking spaces, will replace the three existing homes in the Kensington View neighborhood.

What do you think? Will the lot consolidation help preserve the residential character of the neighborhood? Tell us in the comments.
