Medical Waste Take Back Program in Effect in Acton

Check your medicine cabinet. Do you have expired medications? How about syringes you don't plan on using and want to dispose of them properly?

State Rep. Cory Atkins announced recently that the Town of Acton is participating in a medical waste take back program, where residents can safely dispose of prescription medications, sharps, and other medical waste materials.

Residents of Acton can dispose of unwanted medications any time by dropping it off at a kiosk located in the front foyer of the Public Safety building located at 371 Main Street. Sharps can be dropped off in a kiosk in the left foyer of the Town Hall, 472 Main St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has named April 27, 2013, as National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Locations for prescription drug disposal on this day will be released on April 1, 2013.
