Severe T-Storm Alert for Acton

Severe thunderstorms, with hail and strong winds, are again possible on Thursday afternoon.

Severe T-Storm Alert for Acton

By Bobby Gates

For the second day in a row, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Acton and a large portion of Massachusetts, including the North Shore, MetroWest and Worcester County.

The watch was issued at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday by the National Weather Service. It runs until 10 p.m.

The watch means that conditions are favorable for the formation of a severe thunderstorm, which could include hail and damaging winds.

Much like Wednesday afternoon, areas under the watch include a large area of eastern and central Massachusetts, including Essex, Middlesex and Worcester counties, plus Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties in western Massachusetts. The watch also extends to southern New Hampshire, including Cheshire and Hillsborough counties.

On Wednesday, a line of showers moved through central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, with dozens of lightning strikes. The storms fizzled before they made it to the coastline.
