Everett Man Stops in Middle of Mass. Ave., Charged with OUI

An Arlington Police officer spotted a car stopped in the middle of Mass. Ave. in East Arlington at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

The driver then exited the vehicle, approached the officer and told him that he had gotten into a verbal argument with his passenger so he decided to stop, according to police.

The driver, 53-year-old Nathan Fern, of Avon Street, Everett, appeared to be drunk and failed field sobriety tests at the scene, as he was “extremely unsteady” on his feet, according to the officer.

Fern was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, first offense, police said. The incident took place near Mass. Ave. and Fairmont Street.
