Male Attempts to Annoy Ex-Girlfriend, Annoys Entire Neighborhood Instead

Police were called to the area of Hillside and Wachusett avenues in Arlington Heights at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday for a report of a driver speeding around the neighborhood, honking his horn repeatedly.

The driver had been doing this for about a half hour, according to residents.

After a short time, officers witnessed the driver speed around a corner and pulled him over, according to police.

The male driver allegedly told police, “I was laying on my horn to annoy my friend but didn’t mean to bother anyone else.”

He said his friend was an ex-girlfriend and he had been aggravated with her lately, according to police.

Police issued the male citations for excess noise (horn violation) and speed greater than reasonable. Officers were also planning to seek a criminal complaint against the male for disturbing the peace.
