Vehicle, Bicyclist Collide at Lake Street Crossing

Police responded to the bike path’s Lake Street crossing at about 8:50 a.m. Monday for a report of a motor vehicle striking a bicyclist.

Once there, police spoke to a male driver who said that he had stopped at the bike path’s crosswalk and when he slowly pulled forward a female bicyclist had run into his front-left fender. He said the bicyclist did not stop at the stop sign on the bike path. He said she came off of her bicycle during the crash and suffered a minor shoulder injury.

The female got up and continued riding, the driver told police. She was not there by the time police arrived.

The driver told police that the female said she “probably should have stopped.” His vehicle had a small dent in its fender.

Police believe the female bicyclist was at fault.
