Arlington, and several other communities in the Boston area, lost a local favorite when Johnnie’s closed in November.

Another local favorite, Brigham’s, gave Arlingtonians a scare in 2012, when it was seized by the state in May for “nonpayment of taxes.” Luckily, Brigham’s reopened a few days later.

Gemma and Main Event Tuxedo also shuttered their doors in 2012. Gemma but we’ve heard those plans have fallen through and there’s still a “For Lease” sign in the restaurant’s front window. Main Event Tuxedo did quickly transition to a new boutique, Arlington Centered, which opened in late September.

Buona Vita Cucina Italiana became Scugnizzi Pizza & Kitchen, and I Chef became Napoli Kitchen. However, both are still under their same ownership and have maintained similar menus.
