Attleboro Has a New State Rep.

Gov. Deval Patrick led a ceremony Wednesday morning at the State House to install the members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Among those taking the oath of office were newly elected Rep. Paul Heroux (D-Attleboro, all wards but 3B) and re-elected Reps. Betty Poirier (R-Attleboro 3B) and Steven Howitt (R-Seekonk).

Heroux defeated incumbent George Ross in November. Howitt was elected to a second term with a win over Democratic challenger A. Keith Carreiro. Poirier ran unopposed.

Also taking to the oath of office Wednesday were the area's state senators—James Timilty (D-Seekonk and Attleboro 3B, 4, 5 and 6) and Richard Ross (R-Attleboro 1, 2 and 3A).
