Attleboro Teachers Approve Trimester System

After at first objecting, teachers in the Attleboro school district are now on board with the trimester system that was implemented at the high school this fall. Principal Bill Runey informed the media the teachers had voted Wednesday to approve the system.

The teachers had filed a grievance after a majority of the school committee voted in June to endorse the system prior to a formal vote by the teachers.

"Given the unavoidable time constraints of the impending conclusion of the academic year and the failure to reach a ratified agreement between the school committee and the AEA, the school committee declared the negotiations to have reached an impasse," school committee Chair Mike Tyler said at the time. "In light of the impasse in the negotiations, the school committee has exercised its legal right to instruct the administration to implement the trimester schedule at Attleboro High School."
