Cook, Blais Re-Elected as Council President and VP
The newly re-elected council president handed out committee appointments Tuesday night.
Peter Blais was also re-elected as the City Council Vice President.
"It's an honor and a privilage to lead this honorable body for the next two years," Cook said.
Cook was elected by a 10-1 margin with Richard Conti voting for newcomer Ronald Churchill. Blais was elected with 7 votes. Heather Porreca, Richard Conti and Ronald Churchill voted for Mark Cooper while Jonathan Weydt voted for Conti.
Cook addressed the newly elected City Council for the first time in 2014. Newcomers Churchill and Porreca participated in their first meeting and also received committee appointments.
The Budget and Appropriations Committee will be chaired by Brian Kirby. Jonathan Weydt and Mark Cooper will serve on the committee.
The Committee on Capital Improvements and City Development will be chaired by Richard Conti. Jeremy Denlea and Walter Thibodeau will serve on the committee.
The Committee on City Property and Claims will be chaired by Heather Porreca with Peter Blais and Jonathan Weydt serving on the committee.
The Committee on Licenses will be chaired by Ronald Churchill with Shannon Heagney and Jeremy Denlea also on the committee.
The Committee on Ordinances, Elections and Legislative Matters will be chaired by Jeremy Denlea with Walter Thibodeau and Brian Kirby also serving on the committee.
The Committee on Personnel and Human Services will be chaired by Shannon Heagney with Brian Kirby and Peter Blais on the committee.
The Committee on Public Safety and Emergency Management will be chaired by Mark Cooper with Heather Porreca and Ronald Churchill on the committee.
The Committee on Public Works will be chaired by Peter Blais with Ronald Churchill and Shannon Heagney on the committee.
The Committee on Transportation and Traffic will be chaired by Walter Thibodeau with Richard Conti and Heather Porreca on the committee.
The Committee on Zoning and Land Use will be chaired by Jonathan Weydt with Mark Cooper and Richard Conti on the committee.
