Michael Levinson kicked off his re-election campaign Wednesday night, the one year anniversary of his victory in a special election for a seat on the Levinson replaced Ward 6 Committee Memember Bruce Levine, who resigned.

Levinson and his supporters gathered at to enjoy food while going over the campaign strategy for the fall election.

The Attleboro resident said he believes his experience as an attorney gave him some of the necessary skills needed to work with those who may have opposing views.

“I know how to broker agreements between people,” Levinson said, going on to emphasize the need for the school committee to work with one another, as well as with the teachers and administration to ensure that students receive proper education.

“I believe in having a collaborative effort. We’re all on the same team,” Levinson said.

Levinson’s campaign will focus on three issues: children, integrity and collaboration.

The candidate said he believes the Attleboro School Committee too often overlooks the actual needs of the children to focus on personal agendas. Additionally, he believes that proper decorum needs to be maintained and all those involved with the district are treated with respect.

Lastly, Levinson said the School Committee needs to focus on building its relationship with the staff members, the administration and others on the the committee so they can all work together.

“My work’s not over, that’s why I’m running for re-election,” Levinson said.
