Bedford High Seniors Win Environmental Scholarship
Two Bedford High seniors were awarded $1,400 each for their contributions to the school's recycling efforts.

Bedford High seniors Trenton Sanders and Avery Kaplan are this year's recipients of the 2016 Environmental Scholarship.
The scholarship is sponsored by the Department of Public Works and Republic Services and "awarded to a Bedford High senior who takes a leading role in increasing the school’s recycling efforts and improving the efficiency of the program," according to a release from Bedford DPW.
Each student will be awarded $1,400.

“Trenton and Avery each took a leadership role to maintain the success of the recycling program at Bedford High and pursued areas where it could be expanded,” said town recycling coordinator Ed McGrath. “Because of their dedication, Trenton and Avery are being awarded $1,400 each.”
Sanders was the high school's recycling coordinator and plans to attend the University of South Florida. Kaplan was a four-year member of the Environmental Club and a member of the Envirothon Team. She'll be attending Wesleyan.
