The  Bedford Housing Authority, one of 240 public housing authorities across Massachusetts, would all but vanish as part of a proposal Gov. Deval Patrick filed last week to streamline public housing management operations. The proposal would consolidate local housing authorities across the state into six regional housing authorities, reportedly saving more than $10 million a year in salaries and administrative costs. 

On Thursday, a speeding car injured two construction workers near 180 Hartwell Road at around 8:35 a.m. The two men were transported with injuries to Lahey Clinic, and Hartwell Road was closed for several hours while police worked to clear the scene. The driver responsible for the crash was cited with speeding.  

Kristen Vogel, an assistant principal at Bedford High School, is one of two finalists vying to become the new permanent principal at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. Check out what Superintendent Jon Sills had to say about Vogel's time with Bedford Public Schools.

Several members of the Bedford Police Department embarked on a road trip down to Staten Island on Jan. 12 to deliver 100  iRobot Mint 5200 robots to victims of superstorm Sandy as well as to first responders assisting with the clean up and rebuild of the area. The 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment from Hanscom Air Force Base will march in the Inauguration Day Parade on Jan. 21 following the swearing-in of President Barack Obama. You can watch inaugration weekend activities  live streaming from the inauguration website
