5 Things You Need to Know Today: November 29

Santa's is coming to the Center, eReader expo and Uplands group meeting.

5 Things You Need to Know Today: November 29

1. Belmont's annual Tree Lighting/Turn on the Town will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Belmont Center with Santa arriving at 6:20 p.m. to light the tree.

2.  If you are thinking about giving or receiving an eReader for the holidays, then think about attending the Belmont Public Library's eReader Expo from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Assembly Room. Technology Librarian Emily Smith will give a short overview of several devices and explain what to look for when shopping for an eReader. She will have Nooks, an iPad and Kindles on hand for you to test drive. No registration is required.

3. The group concerned about preserving a native forest of silver maples from proposed development in the Belmont Uplands will be meeting in the Flett Room of the Belmont Public Library from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

4. Infant Lapsit Storytime is for infants and pre-walkers.  Enjoy songs, finger plays, and rhymes chosen especially for our littlest readers in the Flett Room (across from the Children's Room) from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Belmont Public Library.

5. Yoga tonight in Gardiner Hall at Plymouth Congregational Church at 582 Pleasant St. at 7 p.m. (Enter on Alexander Street). Taught by professionals in the Vinyasa style.  Bring your own mat.  All levels welcome. $10 per class. Free parking on Pleasant, Leonard and behind Macy's. All proceeds benefit Plymouth Nursery School.
