5 Things You Need to Know Today: September 19

1.The Community Path Advisory Committee will be discussing the long proposed and equally long put off bike path through Belmont. The fun starts at 7 p.m. in Room 4 of the Belmont Town Hall. Lots to talk about and plans that include possible site visits and a future bike tour.

2. You've heard that Belmont's own Tom Perrotta's "The Leftovers" was selected as the book for this year's One Book One Belmont, now here is your chance to know more about it as Belmont Public Library Librarian Corinne Chan leads an hour-long discussion on the novel beginning at 3 p.m. in the downstairs Flett Room. Everyone is welcome.

3. You get a second bite of the apple as yesterday's Girls' Soccer match-up between Belmont and league powerhouse Winchester was postponed and is rescheduled for today at 3:45 p.m. at the friendly confines of Harris Field. If volleyball is more your thing, the Girls' team will take on Winchester inside Wenner Field House.

4. Storytime for 1's is for walkers and toddlers under 24 months. They'll get to share simple stories, songs, finger plays, nursery rhymes and puppets in the Flett Room – opposite the Children's Room – of the Belmont Public Library beginning at 10:30 a.m.

5. Belmont Democratic Town Committee Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with socializing and registration with the meeting at 7 p.m. in the Selectmen's Room of Town Hall.
