Chenery Middle School brings 'Guys & Dolls' to Belmont

The Chenery Middle School Drama Group is thrilled to announce that they will be performing the musical Guys & Dolls on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Chenery auditorium.  Featuring a cast and crew of over 100 students in grades 6, 7 and 8, Guys & Dolls is sure to delight crowds of all ages.

"Chenery students have been rehearsing weekly since February, learning songs, lines and choreography." noted Chenery teacher and musical director Nate Haywood.  "After twelve weeks of rehearsals, the ensemble is now ready to perform the classic musical, Guys & Dolls."

The production is proudly sponsored by Belmont Savings Bank, which will be on-hand at the productions to add to the festivities by giving away a free Bose Soundlink and iTunes gift cards.  "We are delighted to support the theater arts in Belmont and help give students the chance to shine on stage." remarked Bob Mahoney, president and CEO of Belmont Savings Bank.

Tickets are on sale now and available online (make hyperlink www.ticketstage.com) or at Champions or Moozy's in Belmont.  Advanced tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, and tickets at the door will be $12 each.

The plot is essentially based on the activities of New York petty criminals and professional gamblers in the late 1940s. The premiere on Broadway was in 1950. It ran for 1200 performances and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical has had several Broadway and London revivals, as well as a 1955 film adaptation starring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra and Vivian Blaine.
