Olson Grabs Citizens for Limited Taxation Endorsement

Barbara Anderson's organization backs Belmont resident in her race for State Rep.

Olson Grabs Citizens for Limited Taxation Endorsement

The Citizens for Limited Taxation, the largest taxpayers association in Massachusetts, has endorsed Tomi Olson for State Representative in the 24th Middlesex District.

"Unlike her opponents in this race, Tomi believes that we can provide essential services without increasing the burden on taxpayers," said a press release from the Olson campaign.

"Tomi understands that we need to increase the number of taxpayers, not raise taxes. To do that, we must foster an environment conducive to economic growth and job creation. Under the current policies being pursued by the Beacon Hill establishment we are doing just the opposite. Just last week we learned that Massachusetts lost another 4,800 jobs and the unemployment rate is rising again," said the release.

"Tomi Olson is a longtime Belmont resident with both public and private sector experience. Her work in finance and education is exactly what’s needed on Beacon Hill. She has been a Belmont Town Meeting member for many years and has served on various town boards and commissions."

Citizens for Limited Taxation was founded in 1974 by Barbara Anderson to defend state taxpayers against a proposed state graduated income tax, which it defeated on the 1976 statewide ballot and again on the 1994 ballot. CLT also limited property taxes with Proposition 2½ in 1980 and created a state tax cap in 1986.
