Snowfall Totals Near Belmont Far From Most in Area

Nearly two feet of snow fell in some parts of Massachusetts as a result of the two-day snow storm that hit the area Thursday and Friday while around Belmont, communities show barely half that total.

The storm arrived in New England as early as Thursday morning and continued through the night, bringing with it frigid temperatures, blistering winds and quickly-accumulating snowfall totals. 

Logan International Airport reported 14.6 inches as of 7 a.m. Friday, according to the  National Weather Service, and Essex County saw the heaviest snowfall totals, reaching nearly 24 inches in Boxford and Topsfield. 

The following highlights a sampling of the latest unofficial snowfall totals  taken in areas across Massachusetts by the National Weather Service Friday morning. 

For those towns near Belmont that reported include:

Middlesex County (all totals taken on Friday, Jan. 3)
  • Winchester: 14 inches taken at 1:16 p.m. 
  • Waltham: 9 inches taken at 9:49 a.m. 
  • Concord: 7.2 inches taken at 10:30 a.m.
  • Newton: 6.7 inches taken at 10:35 a.m.
Suffolk County
  • Brighton: 9.5 inches taken at 11:30 a.m.
