If you left your garbage cans out this morning, get them inside as soon as you can or they could be in Arlington by tomorrow morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a strong wind advisory for Belmont and the rest of the state beginning at 4 p.m. and remain in effect until Wednesday morning.

Strong steady winds will sweep into Belmont by 8 p.m. and last until just before daybreak.

Residents can expect strong and possibly damaging winds with gusts from the South reaching 45 to 55 mph. The stongest winds will be at higher elevations such as the top of Belmont Hill and near south facing coastal areas.

Winds of this strength and duration can bring down trees and break off large branches which could result in power outages.

If the lights do go out, call the Belmont Municipal Light Department at
