Massachusetts Weather Forecast: More Snow This Weekend, Up To 6-7 Inches
It won't be another Winter Storm Stella, but an annoying amount of snow could fall this weekend.

If you're waiting for the snow to melt off your car as we approach spring, you might be waiting a while. Massachusetts is expected to get more snow this weekend, and while it won't be another Stella, it has the potential to be a significant amount.
There is "uncertainty" about this system, the National Weather Service said, but forecasters believe a plowable amount of snow could fall Saturday night into Sunday. If the storm intensifies and/or shifts, much of the state could be seeing 6 inches or more of snow. It's also possible the region gets zip, too.
The forecast should firm up Saturday, but for now Southeast Mass. and the Cape and Islands have the highest risk for getting the most snow. The Boston area, Merrimack Valley, North Shore and parts of Central Mass. could also see as much as 6 inches.

If you lost a bit of faith in the NWS after a tough week (more on that below), here is what Weather.com has to say about Sunday:
- "Snow may linger in southeast New England and parts of Long Island, potentially scraping parts of the Maine coast.
- Some rain may mix in a few spots near the coast.
- Strong winds are possible near the coast, especially in southeast New England, including Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island, as well as parts of Long Island. These winds will likely persist into Sunday night in southeast New England.
- These winds, gusting over 40 mph, may lead to some downed tree limbs and sporadic power outages.
- Some coastal flooding is likely in southeast New England, mainly along north or northeast-facing shorelines."

This NWS was criticized for not adjusting its forecast of Tuesday's storm even after realizing it likely wasn't going to produce the amount of snow at one point expected.

Gov. Charlie Baker was among those criticizing the service. He said Thursday on WGBH radio he was close to instituting a full travel ban, but the storm produced relatively reasonable snow totals in some areas — at least for a New England storm initially threatening two feet or more of snow.
The NWS said it didn't want to confuse people with the late change.
