Braintree Electric Light Department Hosts 'Ride ‘n’ Drive' Event
Residents are encouraged to drop by the Braintree High School and join the activities of National Drive Electric Week on September 17.

From BELD:
Braintree is joining more than 200 communities across the country—along with prominent electric vehicle (EV) advocacy groups such as the Sierra Club and Plugin America to celebrate National Drive Electric Week, Sept. 1017.
Through a new Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD) initiative, Braintree Drives Electric (BDE) is connecting residents to rebates, incentives, and free EV test drives. As an official launch to this program and culmination of National Drive Electric Week, BDE is hosting a Townwide Ride ‘n’ Drive event Saturday, September 17, 9 a.m.–noon, at Braintree High School. Braintree residents and employees are invited to stop by to learn about the available incentives and test drive an EV. Attendees may reserve a test drive in advance or sign up on site. Please R.S.V.P here or go here. Refreshments will be available.

Furthermore, in collaboration with National Drive Electric Week, California based EV charging equipment company eMotorWerks will donate a dual-head charging station to the Town for public use if Braintree completes 100 test drives this month. Those unable to attend the library or Ride ‘n’ Drive events can contribute to this goal by scheduling a test drive online.
“Widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption is critical to reach Massachusetts carbon emission targets for a sustainable climate,” said Emily Norton, Director of the Massachusetts Sierra Club chapter. “National Drive Electric week is an important opportunity to invigorate the EV movement and educate our communities about how accessible and affordable these cars truly are.”
For more than 120 years BELD has been a nonprofit public power utility owned and operated by the citizens of Braintree. BELD Broadband offers affordable high-speed Internet, cable television and phone service to Braintree residents and businesses.
