The following was released by Milton police Monday:
This morning a male suspect entered the Citizens Bank at 40 Adams St, in Milton Lower Mills. The subject indicated his intentions he was armed and demanded money.
He then fled with cash on foot out onto Adams St. Witnesses observed him run across the Adams St. bridge toward River St. 1st responding units put a general description of the suspect out to all area patrols. Within minutes Officer Kristen Chipman and her partner K9 Fozzie located a man on the Central Ave bridge.
Immediately upon seeing the officer, the suspect began running on foot headed behind 67 River St. Fozzie was deployed and took chase into the rear of the building where the suspect facing immediate apprehension, surrendered to Officer Chipman and several backup officers. Significant evidence of the bank robbery was recovered at the scene.
The suspect, a 28 year old Braintree man was charged with armed robbery and resisting arrest. In addition to the main suspect, MPD officers noted tow more men at the scene who fled upon being approached. Subsequent to the arrest, officers developed information that led them to a residence on River St.
Detectives were able to secure information that link this suspect to additional bank robberies last week in Brookline and Stoughton.
This was an excellent team effort by all of the Supervisors, Patrol officers and Detectives working today resulting in the immediate apprehension and successful clearance of multiple felonies.
